Fall is the time of year when car dealerships start to offer “EVERYTHING MUST GO” sales in order to clear off their lots for the next year’s models. Kelli Grant, Senior Consumer Reporter for SmartMoney.com tells CBS News Correspondent Terrell Brown that this year car buyers will face a different sale situation than usual.
According to Kelli Grant, the type of car you want to buy can determine when you should buy. If you are in the market for an SUV, a truck, or a luxury car you may have already missed your mark in terms of the ideal time to purchase. The really good deals on these vehicles started coming in during the month of September.
However, if you are looking at or considering buying a smaller, fuel-efficient car, Kelli suggests the month of October is your time to buy. The March earthquake in Japan setback many Japanese auto manufacturers and delayed them from getting cars on the lots. Kelly expects most Japanese manufacturers to have their supplies back up and running this month. They will be offering some pretty great deals so get out there!
